Top 10 Best places to visit in Vietnam

What, where and especially why ?

A trip to Vietnam means extensive landscapes with terraced rice fields, colourful markets, tropical forests, limestone karsts, authentic hidden villages with the Montagnard population and extraordinary beaches. What are the places you absolutely can’t miss before leaving the country of ‘’the rising dragon’’? That’s a tough question.. However, our team of Vietnam experts joined their forces and made a list of must sees in Vietnam. Hereby we hope to make it a bit easier for you to choose and to make sure you don’t miss some of the beautiful treasures the country has to offer. Of course you will find some highlights, but we will take you off the beaten track as well.

No.1 Ba Be National Park

By foot, by boat..
There are several ways to explore the Ba Be National Park. It is inhabited by different ethnic groups, but the largest group in this National Park is the Tay tribe, who live in houses on stilts. Of you decide to take a boat tour, you will find some waterfalls and hidden caves inside of the rocks along the way. Maybe you’ll also see one of the rare tropical birds or fishes that live here! After the boat trip you can take a short walk to a Tay village where you could stay in a simple homestay on the edge of the lake. An unforgettable experience!

No.2 Enchanted Halong Bay

The spectacular Halong Bay, Vietnam’s version of an amphitheatre, is an absolute must see during your trip. This bay includes some 1,600 islands and islets, which create an impressive scenery of limestone karsts pillars with beautiful beaches and coves. Visiting Halong Bay feels like walking into a movie and will give you goose bumps on your entire body. Unfortunately, the Bay has become more and more touristic over the last few years. However, it still remains one of the best places in Vietnam to see.

No.3 Tribes in Mai Chau

Mai Chau is a collection of villages located in a magical valley landscape. In this valley you will find mainly White Thai people, living their lives in their own traditional way, in the middle of many beautiful rice fields. These tribes here live in wooden houses on stilts. Underneath some of these wooden houses you can find little shops where the locals sell their own handicrafts.   The best way to explore this area and its culture is by staying with one of the White Thai families in a homestay. You’ll get to know their food specialties, their daily duties and their way of living. If you’re a sporty type as well, it’s also very beautiful to ride a bicycle here!
