This is a trip for the adventurous traveler. You will go to the little-visited west of Mongolia to the rugged Altai Mountains. This is no longer the terrain of Mongolian nomads, but of Kazakh nomads. Buddhist temples make way for mosques and you may see a Kazakh eagle hunter in action. There are several national parks in the Altai region where you will do some multi-day treks. You will also visit the lake area of the Uvs province, a desolate region in the west of the country.
