This tour brings you to the distant provinces Bayaan Olgii and Khovd in extreme western Mongolia, towards the high Altai Mountain terrain of the Kazakh and Uriankhai nomads. From desolate Olgii you travel by jeep to nomad families with whom you will stay.

Tour of Kazakh nomads in western Mongolia
You will journey to the distant provinces of Bayaan Olgii and Khovd in the far west of Mongolia, near the high Altai Mountains and in the lands of the Kazakh and Uriankhai nomads. Kazakhs in this region are avid eagle hunters. From the dusty Olgii you will travel by jeep to either visit nomadic families or stay in your own tent. A short trek up Mount Tsambagarav introduces you to these vast and wild surroundings that you will remember forever. You can try cooking, fetching water, catching fish, wrangling sheep, caring for children, horseback riding, collecting dried yak dung, or taking care of hunting eagles (from September) with a Kazakh and Uriankhai family. Or you can just enjoy this immense landscape by foot or on horseback with views of the Altai Mountains from the Namarjin Valley.Note: nomads travel so where you stay with them will depend on the season! Prepare yourself for very basic accommodations without a shower. There is (sometimes hot) water present in jugs.
