Upon old Tibetan trade routes to Ladakh

On this India trip you will take an adventureous journey via Kinnaur and Spiti to Ladakh. Mainly you will take the old trade route from India to Tibet, Tibet-Hindustan road. Kinnaur is one of the least-known, but most beautiful one in the Himalaya. You find yourself here at a crossroad between Buddhist and Hindu cultures, which gives Kinnaur a special character. 
Driving through a deep gorge, following the Sutlej river and surrounded by wooden villages with beautiful temples. The locals are wearing typical Kinnauri headgear. You can take a walk in Kalpa and the Sangla valley.
Via the beautiful Nako village, you will arrive in the high-located Buddhist valley of Spiti, where you can find some of the most special monasteries of the Himalaya. From Spiti you will cross the Kunzum la pas, to travel in a rough mountainious area with breathtaking views to Ladakh. Here you will visit famous monasteries in the Indusvalley, such as Hemis, Tikse, Lamayuru and Alchi.
 
Festival tip: Ladakh and Spiti have amazing colourful yearly festivals in several monasteries. In the beginning of September you can experience the yearly Ladakhi festival in Leh. During these festivals you can see music- and danceperformances (Cham dancing) of monks. We can check, if desired, if it's possible to adjust one of these festivals to your trip, by that time.
