Adventurous tour in the Indian Himalayas

This tour will introduce you to the special buddhist kingdoms of Ladakh and Spiti. Ladakh is not only known for its Buddhist temples, but also for it's overwhelmingly beautiful landscape. You are in a bizarre lunar landscape with beautiful views everywhere. This is not a lovely mountain scenery, but a rugged, barren and dry landscape. Brown is reflected beautifully against the often clear blue sky. A monastery on a mountainside and snowy peaks in the background complete the picture.
The trip is starting easy, so you can slowly get used to the altitude. From Delhi take a comfortable train to Amritsar to visit the impressive Golden Temple of the Sikhs. The next stop is Dharamsala, home to exiled Tibetans and the Dalai Lama. Through the holy place Rewalsar with its many temples we drive to the green valley of Kullu. In Manali you visit an old wooden Hindu temple built in pagoda-style dedicated to the goddess Hadimba. Through the little visited, but special Spiti valley with its unique monasteries and scenery, you end up traveling to Leh via a scenic drive over high mountain passes through the Indian Himalayas. Very special is the visit to the Tibetan nomads near the salt lake Tso Moriri. A walk around the deep blue lake is also highly recommended. In the area of Leh, visit the monasteries in the beautiful surroundings. In particular, the area around Lamayuru of unearthly beauty.

Festival tip: In Ladakh and Spiti are annual colorful festivals in the various monasteries. Early September is the annual Ladakhi festival in Leh. During the festivals there is music and dance (cham dance) performed by monks. If you intend to visit a festival please let us know so we can adjust the itinerary to your liking.
