What to wear
Always keep cotton clothing for your children if you go to tropical countries. That's nice and cool . Also, long sleeves and long legs for the children that they are able to wear at night to prevent insect bites is a must. A warmer sweater is always good to take because in some buildings and restaurants, the air conditioning makes it quite freezing.
Insect Bites
Always provide adequate insectrepellantl ( with deet is a recommendation but not always recommendable when used for small children). As the mosquito or sand fly bites still here , an ointment to reduce itching is naturally delicious! If you are traveling in more adventurous areas an extra mosquito net for the bed of your child is a must. Usually the will be mosquite nets, but it's always safe to have your own.. Take an extra screw and rope so you can better fix the mosquito net on the wall and ceiling
Pictures of home
To let your child make contact, I once made a picture book for my two children. Very small, credit card-sized and plasticised . They can show their home to any playmates , their pets, their grandfather or grandmother . Always fun for both parties !
Toys and stuff
Most of them we leave actually at home. Well I always have some pencils, pens, glue, drawing books and writing books for each child . In recent years (my eldest is now 10) I took a trip diary for the oldest . She uses it to write it, paste in admissions and asks travelfriends something to write on. Of course we take some travel games. With us are old-fashioned playing cards always good. .
Swimming
If possible a pool or beach to sea with no high waves ( depending on the season of course! ) Always a pleasant change for children. Take a swimming glasses and a water ball! Our kids spend so many hours and hours in the water .
